Welcome

Diatoms are tiny algae with glass-like shells, yet they play a giant role in keeping our planet alive. They produce oxygen, clean water, and record the history of our environment.
This website is my space to share the journey of exploring these invisible architects of freshwater ecosystems. Here you will find:

  • Stories from my research on Indian rivers, lakes, and swamps, past and present.
  • Access to my publications, books, and teaching resources.
  • Insights into South Asia’s largest diatom collection curated at ARI Pune.
  • Updates on outreach, workshops, and student mentorship.

The aim is simple: to make diatoms, often unseen but always important, visible to scientists, students, and everyone who cares about water and our shared environment.
